Townley Park presents a unique open space, themed around a marine environment with the focal point being the whale bone playspace. Various playground equipment items are re-imagined as parts of the skeleton with an iconic tail piece as the thematic keystone of the space. Play items include a range of challenging climbing oportunities and a rope trail, slides, swings including a large standalone basket swing and a turtle shell cubby structure.

Colour was used extensively throughout the playspace to create a strong visual language and link back to the whale bone theme, with white and various shades of blue comprising the colour palette for the playground items and rubber surfacing.

A gathering space with a shelter, BBQ and picnic tables overlooks the playspace, while a basketball key and table tennis table provide for active play opportunities nearby.
